Public Safety is my top priority

Public safety is my top priority.

As your Sheriff, I’m committed to preserving the small-town safety we all cherish while preparing for the demands of a growing Wasatch County.

That starts with rebuilding our department’s strength—recruiting and retaining top-tier deputies who reflect the integrity and professionalism our community deserves.

I’ll work closely with the county council and neighboring agencies to launch joint task forces that address crime proactively and ensure every neighborhood remains safe, well-served, and protected.

My Commitment to the Office

Leadership in law enforcement means showing up—not just making promises. As your full-time Sheriff, I’ll bring presence, action, and accountability to an office that’s been stretched thin by staffing shortages and fractured partnerships.

I will immediately rebuild our ranks and restore trust with surrounding agencies, because public safety depends on it. By sharing tactical resources, investigative support, and unified command protocols, we’ll ensure Wasatch County is never left vulnerable during critical incidents.

Together, we’ll protect what matters most: our people.

Building and restoring trust in our community

Building and Restoring Trust

My commitment as your Sheriff is to preserve the small-town values we all cherish—while preparing Wasatch County for the growth that’s already knocking at our door. I serve every resident with fairness, responsiveness, and respect.

Trust has eroded due to past leadership gaps, and I intend to restore it by showing up—at meetings, in communities, and in conversations. I’m establishing direct lines of communication with Daniels, Midway, Hideout, and Heber City to ensure no voice goes unheard and no concern goes unanswered.

Transparency and open dialogue will be the foundation of my leadership.

Rebuilding Confidence - In & Out

Trust begins within. I’ve spoken with deputies who feel disheartened by the lack of leadership and pride in their badge. That ends now. As your Sheriff, I will lead from the front—visible, accountable, and committed to rebuilding morale. Through fair policies, a clear chain of command, and consistent training, I’ll restore confidence in our department and empower every deputy to serve with integrity.

At the same time, I’ll meet directly with residents and businesses to understand their concerns and build lasting relationships. Together, we’ll rebuild the trust that strengthens our community and keeps Wasatch County safe.

Constitutional Integrity

Upholding Constitutional Integrity

Every resident deserves equal protection under the law. As your Sheriff, I will ensure our deputies uphold their oath to defend constitutional rights—without bias, favoritism, or exception.

Justice, equality, and data-driven decision-making will guide every action we take. I will lead a department that respects the law, honors its duty, and serves every resident of Wasatch County with integrity and fairness.

Fair & Unbiased Law Enforcement

The badge is not a symbol of power—it’s a promise to protect. I will build a team of deputies who believe in that promise and take pride in their oath of office. Through rigorous training, clear standards, and a culture of accountability, we will apply the law fairly and consistently.

No matter your background, beliefs, or zip code, you will be treated with respect and protected under the same principles that make our Constitution the foundation of justice.

Schools and churches

To enhance the safety of schools, churches, and community gathering spaces across Wasatch County, I will appoint a Chief Safety Officer to lead and expand the existing statewide Guardian Program. This role will be responsible for developing and staffing a comprehensive safety strategy for all school campuses, ensuring that every child, educator, and staff member can learn and work in a secure environment. The Guardian Program will be extended to include churches, religious institutions, and meeting areas used by special interest groups, reflecting our commitment to protecting all residents where they gather. The Chief Safety Officer will serve as a liaison between law enforcement, school boards, faith leaders, and community organizations, ensuring that safety plans are collaborative, responsive, and tailored to each location’s unique needs.

A central component of this initiative will be the integration of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles. By conducting site-specific safety audits and working closely with campus administrators, the Chief Safety Officer will help develop strategic safety plans that align with each facility’s structural footprint and operational patterns. This includes recommendations for lighting, access control, surveillance, and emergency response protocols. Our goal is to create environments that naturally deter crime while fostering a sense of safety and trust. Every person who lives, works, plays, and worships in Wasatch County deserves to do so without fear — and this initiative will ensure that our public spaces reflect that promise.

Law Enforcement partners

Rebuilding professional relationships with surrounding law enforcement agencies is a top priority. Wasatch County may not routinely face critical incidents, but when they do occur, it is essential that we have trusted partners we can call on—and that we stand ready to support them in return. I will reestablish our participation in regional task forces, including BACKNET (our narcotics enforcement team) and SWAT tactical units, ensuring that Wasatch County is fully integrated into the broader public safety network. These partnerships will strengthen our ability to respond to complex incidents, share intelligence, and coordinate resources across jurisdictions.

In addition to rebuilding trust, we will modernize our investigative capabilities to meet the evolving challenges of crime in the digital age. Criminals are increasingly using technology to exploit vulnerabilities, and our department must be equipped to counter these threats. I will ensure our investigators receive advanced training in cybercrime, digital forensics, and emerging criminal tactics. Through collaboration with outside agencies, we will gain access to specialized personnel who act as force multipliers—enhancing our ability to respond to and investigate major incidents. Wasatch County deserves a sheriff’s department that is not only well-connected but also highly skilled, adaptive, and prepared for the future of law enforcement.

Sheriffs Commission

To restore fairness, professionalism, and transparency within the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office, I will reestablish the Merit Commission in full accordance with Utah state law. This commission will serve as the foundation for a merit-based system that governs hiring, promotions, and policy guidelines assuring that decisions are made based on competence and qualifications, not favoritism or political influence. The commission will be tasked with creating job classification plans, administering competitive testing for both entry-level and promotional opportunities, and maintaining eligibility registers that reflect objective standards. This structure will help attract and retain high-caliber law enforcement professionals who are committed to serving our community with integrity.

Equally important, the Merit Commission will provide a formal and impartial system for employees to appeal grievances, reinforcing a culture of accountability and due process. Our deputy sheriffs deserve a workplace where their efforts are recognized, and their rights are protected. By reinstating this commission, we will build a department that values transparency, professionalism, and equal opportunity—ensuring that every member of our team is treated fairly and that our community is served by the most capable and dedicated personnel available. This is not just an administrative reform; it’s a commitment to restoring trust, morale, and excellence in our sheriff’s office.

Fair and impartial evidence-based investigations

With an accomplished career as a criminal investigator, I bring decades of experience in solving complex cases and uncovering the truth through disciplined, evidence-based policing. My approach to law enforcement is rooted in the principle that facts—not bias, emotion, or political influence—must guide every investigation. I’ve worked as a detective on a wide range of criminal activity, and I understand that the integrity of our justice system depends on impartiality and professionalism. Under my leadership, the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office will operate with a clear commitment to truth, transparency, and fairness in every case we pursue.

We will work in close partnership with the Wasatch County Attorney’s Office to ensure that criminal charges are brought forward only when supported by solid evidence and legal merit. There will be no favoritism, no political gamesmanship, and no tolerance for selective enforcement. Every resident deserves equal protection under the law, and every investigation will be handled with the same rigor and respect for due process. Our deputies will be trained to remove bias from their fact-finding mission, and our department will be known for its integrity, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to justice.
